Ben's Comments
"A very disappointing and very frustrating weekend. I could not believe how different the bike felt compared to last weekend. I couldn't feel a thing through the front end of the machine all weekend, despite changing the settings in virtually every session. I ride very hard on the front end and the lack of feel from the front suspension meant that I couldn't push as hard as I wanted to at any point over the weekend. In the end I raced with what I felt was the best settings we had tried but I knew that I would struggle over the 14 lap distance. In the end it was a case of damage limitation as far as the championship was concerned. I had to get off the line well and get infront of as many guys as possible in the early stages, which would then force them do the hard work of trying to pass me back as the race progressed. I knew that my times would slow as the tyres started to go off, but I just had to protect my lines and work as hard possible on the brakes to stop them from getting by. It proved to be a highly frustrating race though. I've dropped to 4th place in the championship, but I'm only 2 points off of 2nd place, and its early days so I'm still in with a shout. Thats racing - you have good days and you have bad days, but I now aim to come back even stronger at Silverstone in a fortnight's time."
