“This weekend was the first time that I have ever ridden Croft in the dry! Certainly no complaints about the weather this time… beautiful all weekend. I surprised myself by how high up the order I was after Free Practice, especially as I was on very used tyres and not really pushing that hard! This gave me real confidence when it came to Qualifying. First Qualifying went really well, my times were consistantly quick and I found myself qualifying inside the top 10 for the first time since the first round! I knew that the only way that I could improve in Second Qualifying was to nail a perfect lap… hit every braking point, every apex and get on the gas as early as possible out of every corner. I was in a group of 10 riders that were split by less that 1 second so I knew that it would be very difficult not to drop a few places. Unfortunately my tyres were shot by the time I managed to find enough space to go for a quick lap and I didn’t improve on my time from the first session. I started from the fourth row for the race and got bumped and baulked on the opening lap… probably my own fault for not being aggressive enough in the early stages of the race, but that saw me drop a few places. About half way through the race I got severe arm-pump which meant that I couldn’t brake as hard or steer as sharply as I had been so my progress was limited in the later laps. I managed to hold on to 16^th place despite some late pressure from a couple of guys behind me… although points only go down to 15^th place, so I was one place outside. Its annoying, because to come away from a track that I really don’t like with a point scoring finish would have been great.”
